Cool playoff games, TheNerd played well and I'm pretty satisfied with my own game ( I won and that's all that counts). Always room for improvement though..

I will write in English for our Finnish friends

After a rather slow start in the first period, Rangers managed to hang on once more and as before Martin Straka would play a big role.

1:st period (Tennis? No, Hockey!)

The first period began with frenetic skating, back and forth. Whoever had the puck generated a qualified scoring chance. Islanders had a series of chances but didn’t quite get there. Rangers would however “get there”. After nine minutes of icebreaking play Straka got the puck and he didn’t waste it. After numerous dekes he got of a slap shot that nicely settled in the back of the net, 0-1 after 9:24. The first period continued with heaps of chances on both sides. The first period ended with Rangers one up and Islanders tailgating behind.

2:nd period. (Straka, where are thou?)

The second period started like the first ended, with a scoring chance. This time it was Islanders that took the initiative but could only hold it for so long. When Straka showed up. After 2 minutes of pounding from Islanders hungry forwards Rozsival got the puck and fired it up towards no-man’s-land where Martin Straka ruled, breakaway, dekeshow, goal and 0-2 after 2:38.

Afterwards, Rangers felt in control of the game, but feelings can be deceiving. Only 2 minutes after Straka’s 0-2-goal Shawn Bates escaped from the prison guard in Rangers defensive prison and this time, he meant business. After a weak effort from Henrik Lundqvist, Shawn Bates could place the puck in the net with confidence. 1-2 after 5:04. This would turn out to be a huge boost for Islanders play and so Mike Sillinger took a shot... 2-2 after 7:23. And now, Rangers defensive line felt exposed, whilst everybody in the audience cried out; Straka, Straka, where are thou? Five minutes later, there he was, like thunder on a sunny day Straka lit up no-man’s-land again. This time he fooled Islanders goalkeeper and went behind the net and rounded it unchallenged for 2-3 after 10:10. That concluded the second period.

3:rd period. (No record)

Due to the sad fact that I accidentally pressed the wrong button, I erased all known fact about the third period. Therefore I will only write down goal scorers. Jagr and Shanahan. The third period was a sleeper compared to previous.

Good game, if it wasn’t for Martin Straka I don’t know what I would do? Probably lose more.

After three straight wins, Rangers had the outcome in there hands, and this… on home ice.

Madison Square Garden was packed with people, mainly Rangers-fan’s. It was said to be a tight game between to good contenders, and Islanders weren’t prepared to lay down without a fight… …or were they?

1:st period. (Buckle up)

The first period couldn’t begin much better then it did for Rangers. It only took 2 minutes before Straka got the puck and raced in to the offensive zone and fired. 0-1 after 2:40. It would only take 26 seconds before he stroke again. After loosing the face-off Straka went for the puck-holder and got the puck… …deke, shot, and 0-2 after 3:06. But he wouldn’t stop there… …two minutes later the very same Straka snatched the puck, and another deke, another shot and another goal. 0-3 after 5:43.

Rangers defensive play paid off when Islanders couldn’t penetrate the blue line, they huffed and they puffed but Rangers was like a brick wall. Islanders wall was made out of paper when Michal Rozsival slid in and shot a slap shot, goalie, no chance and 0-4 was inevitable after 14:25. The period ends with 2 – 15 shots.

2:nd period. (Surprise, surprise)

The second period started with Straka, it continued with Straka all the way to 4:00 when he finally got of a shot… …0-5 after 4:08. The period was played mainly in Islanders turf, but despite that no more goals, but tons of shots against Islanders. The second period ends with
3-23 shots.

3:rd period (Fire at will)

The third period was all about shots, since Islanders didn’t have any, Rangers got the most and more. 2 minutes into the period (I know what you’re thinking) Straka got the puck, and with little hesitation he (didn’t shoot) passed beautifully to Jagr, new shot, new goal… 0-6 after 2:32. The period was almost a copy of the second period, despite the fact that Rangers were shooting even more. It paid off again, and Martin Straka could seal the win with 0-7 after 19:34.

Islanders are defeated in the forth and from previous results, final game and they didn’t look good. Only four shots in three periods, but the defensive play by Rangers really worked out like it was supposed to.

I wish to say good game. But I didn’t really feel I was playing another person…

Straka was my best player, with 13 goals in 4 games

I was living horror moments yesterday, when my nhl07 game disc started to whine that it can not be read.. I tried 4 times to start a game with a live opponent without success.

I was so desperate that I even asked if Jonas could send in advance one copy of nhl07.. He just laughed, what should I think about that then?

With my magic sleeve I somehow managed to wipe out the invisible crap from the disc, and the game started to work at least one time more yesterday evening.

The teaching of the story above is that I am back in business.

4 - 38 i skott syftade jag på.. Det var bara spel mot en kasse. Han spelade mycket bättre i dom tre första. Men som sagt så hade jag tur i sista!
